Employee owned businesses come in 2 main varieties:

Worker-Owned Cooperatives, where every employee has an equal share in the company, and a vote in the company.

ESOPs (employee stock plans), where employees own various amounts of stock, but do not exercise direct control over it (for example, voting) but may profit from their shares if the company is successful.
